Jesus’ Warnings to His Followers August 28, 2023 August 28, 2023 Tony/Robin Gray

Jesus tells us that no one knows the day or the hour of his return except God, the Father, (Mathew 24:36). He tells us to watch for His return, (Matthew 24:42), It appears we are living in the last days just prior to the Rapture (I Thessalonians 4:16-17) and Jesus’ return seven years later (Revelation 1:7-8).

In the days prior to the Rapture there will be times of difficulty and the following will be happening:

  • People will be lovers of self
  • Lovers of money
  • Proud
  • Arrogant
  • Abusive
  • Disobedient to their parents
  • Ungrateful
  • Unholy
  • Heartless
  • Unappeasable
  • Slanderous
  • Without Self-control
  • Brutal
  • Not loving good
  • Treacherous
  • Reckless
  • Swollen with conceit
  • Lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God

(2 Timothy 3:1-4)

Currently many people are displaying the above traits worldwide. As Christians we need to be sure our hearts are right with God and know God’s word. We need to be discerning and not follow false teachers because we like what they have to say, (2 Timothy 4:3-5)

My question to you is: What traits in the seven churches in Revelation chapters 2 through 3 do you have?

  • The Loveless Church (Church of Ephesus)
  • Good works, endures, discernment between false teaching and truth
  • Loss of first love or intimacy with Jesus
  • Repent and be a light of love in the darkness
  • The Persecuted Church (Church of Smyrna)
  • Impoverish yet spiritually rich, enduring persecution
  • Faithful unto death
  • The Compromising Church (Church of Pergamum)
  • Have not denied Jesus or their faith
  • False teachings and doctrines, compromise the truth
  • Repent and accept the truth of scripture
  • The Corrupt Church (Church of Thyatira)
    • Charitable, serving, faithful
    • Idolatry, sinfulness, lack of discernment: toleration of heresy
    • Repent or will be given just judgement
  • The Dead Church (Church of Sardis)
    • You were alive and received the truth, now a few remain pure and loyal
  • Dead works, no joy
  • Repent and be watchful, find strength in the Holy Spirit and hold fast to biblical truth
  • The Faithful Church (Church of Philadelphia)
  • Patiently enduring, keeping God’s word of truth and not denying Jesus’ name.
  • Will be kept from the hour of trial that is coming upon the whole earth
  • They endure with love and truth
  • The Lukewarm Church (Church of Laodicea)
    • Compromise the entire Bible
    • Proud, spiritually blind, and bankrupt
    • Repent or will enter into the tribulation, and must become humble and allow the Holy Spirit to lead them even unto death

If you don’t have the traits of either the persecuted church or the faithful church you can repent today and receive Jesus’ forgiveness. We need to keep and believe in all of God’s word, and not compromise because of cultural acceptance, so that we will be kept from the hour of trial that is coming. We don’t want to be left behind when the rapture happens.
